Confirmation is a sacrament of the Church through which Christians are strengthened and established in the faith of Jesus Christ.  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  Corinthians 2:6,7

The sacrament of Confirmation is administered through the laying on of the hands of the presbytery (ministers).  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.  II Timothy 1:6-8.
